You pay for the Union so you deserve to know what is done with your money.

The UCC Express is an independent publication and the Union cannot –
and should not –¬† interfere with it.

The Union needs to have its own Publication to communicate with you directly.

The Union publication needs to be interesting to students and feature extras that will encourage them to read it.

I have a track record of running publications which balance interesting student news with
investigative journalism that hold those in positions of power in UCC to account.

As Deputy President I will ensure that a regular, interesting and well-designed  publication keeps you updated on what the Union is doing.

UCCSU Website: A New Way Forward

The new US administration's simple change of website has made a real impact on how people have interacted with the American Government. There is no reason why the same result cannot be achieved by UCCSU with a new website.

The new US administration's simple change of website has made a real impact on how people have interacted with the American Government. There is no reason why the same result cannot be achieved by UCCSU with a new website.

The Obama campaign has shown how technology can encourage people to get
involved in decisions that affect them.

We need to completely overhaul the current SU website and Forum Boards to make them more user friendly and understandable.

I believe that most students are apathetic towards the union because it never asks them what they want except when the elections roll around.

We need to harness new technologies to get ordinary students involved in decision making. Regular surveys and focus groups will need to be conducted to make sure the opinions of ordinary students are being heard.

As Deputy President I promise to implement a state-of-the art Students’ Union website that is well designed and user friendly.

I will investigate models used in Ireland and the UK and implement the best format that will work for UCC.

In doing so, I will also put pressure on the UCC Computer Centre to scrap the current UCC website and develop a format that is much more navigatable and user friendly to students.

Looking for details and information on student services shouldn’t be this hard.

I also promise to ensure the Union puts in place an easy method for student feedback and involvement in major decisions that affect them.
